Fed: Holiday road toll moves to 43 after NSW deaths

SYDNEY, Dec 30 AAP - Two deaths in NSW have taken the national holiday road toll to 43.

A 22-year-old motorcyclist died after he was thrown from his bike in the Sydney suburb of Merrylands after losing control and running into a road sign and pole about 3pm (AEDT) on Tuesday.

About three hours later a man died after his car collided head on with a semi trailer on the Great Western Highway at Wentworth Falls, west of Sydney.

Their deaths take the NSW toll to 10.

Victoria still tops the list with 11 road deaths, Queensland and Western Australia have had nine fatalities each, there have been three deaths in the Northern Territory and one in South Australia.

Tasmania and the Australian Capital Territory remain fatality free.
